Inshallah: a promise, a maybe, or hope
إن شاء الله (inshallah) literally means 'God willing', and Iraqis say it about almost any future plan. Its real meaning shifts with tone and context — it can be a genuine promise, a hopeful 'fingers crossed', or a softer way of leaving something up in the air.

Eh wallah: yes, by God
والله (wallah) technically means 'by God', but in daily Iraqi speech it functions like 'I swear' or 'seriously' — used to add sincerity to almost any sentence. إي والله (eh wallah) — 'yes, by God' — is one of the most common ways to simply say 'yes' with a bit of emphasis.

Blessings that answer each other
Many Iraqi religious expressions come as a pair — one person says a blessing, and the other has a set response. If someone finishes a task or helps you, you might say عاشت ايدك (3ashat eedak) — 'bless your hands' — and they'll reply وإيدك العايشة (w-eedak al-'aysha). If someone wishes you الله يعطيك العافية (Allah ya'teek al-'afiya) — 'may God give you health' — the reply is الله يعافيك (Allah y'aafeek).

Everyday blessings
بالتوفيق (bil-tawfeeq) — 'with success' — is said before an exam, interview, or big attempt, and answered with آمين (ameen). At the end of the day, تصبح على خير (tisbah ala khair) — 'good night' — literally wishes someone a good morning to come. And دير بالك (deer balak) — 'take care' — is a common way to say goodbye with real warmth.
